We have been celebrating Navaratri this festive season and this one is unique one this season. Mrs. Mounika has pen down her culture and festival celebrated across the globe with her friends.
Singapore is a land of festivals of different religions from different countries coexist harmoniously which is a true manifestation on respecting rich culture and traditions of people round the globe.
October 8th 2016 evening, Bathukamma played by women in Hyderabad ,India entered into the “Guinness book of world records” on the highest participation and I am elated to say that we in bedok could add this festival Bathukamma—“Mother Goddess Come alive” in the Singapore Calendar on the same evening been celebrated at bedok..
Bathukamma is a form of worshipping the patron Goddess of Womenhood Maha Gauri Devi and is done by 12 different flowers shaped into a temple. Like how everyone revolve round the Temple as Pradakshanas, similarly everyone move round the floral mountain singing with three tributes Uyyala (swing),Chandamama(Moon) & Gowramma (goddess).
The beauty of this is how well everyone’s clapping & steps synchronise in unison providing a splendorous look at the festival to Seek Good Health,Prosperity & happiness in the families.
I thank one and all for supporting me in introducing our tradition,Bathukamma where i even thank everyone on coming down , joined together in our traditional dresses and make this Festival Bathukamma come alive in Singapore.
I wish to keep up this tradition every year with the help of Community Centres.
Thank you for the wonderful contribution and letting readers know about this festival.
